When Light Collides with Stella


    As the light came in and Stella looked at me I took the moment to take this shot. Stella likes to sit on the back of the couch and soak in the afternoon light coming in the back door.

Through the Looking Screen Door

    Bailey looked so sweet looking through the screen door. Originally I wanted to capture the image because of the noir look of of the composition. She is a black dog with light brown, more gray now, markings on her face. All around her was black and her face stood out of the darkness.
All I had on me was my phone so I couldn't adjust much "in camera" so I didn't get the image I had in my head. Not that I always do with a real camera with all the adjustments and settings. But I do like the texture of the final image.

Meadow Farm - circa.. 1810 Kit: D5100 Canon 28mm 3.5 with Fotodiox Adapter The Set up This was one of my fist attempts at using this 1960/70 Canon 28mm 1.2 lens I got from my father. To mount this to my Nikon DLSR I used a Fotodiox adaptor. I had learned from my outing with the 55mm lens and I think I did better on the focus. The Process I have visited this park many times over the years and I really enjoy it. They have lots of events and trails to hike and or bike on. My son and I, and our two little dogs, were just out for a walk and i brought my camera to test out how well I was learning zone focusing and how to use this vintage lenses over all. The Issues I had less issues this trip than the previous one.. except I had noticed to spots on my sensor. So I cleaned it and didn't do a very good job. I actually made it worse. River Adjacent

These images are actually not from a dog walk. I had some time down by the river and was able to take a few shots. Are you feeling home sick? Kit: Nikon18-200mm Lens on Nikon D5100 This walk way down to one of the many trail systems around the James River looked cool and had some interesting paining on it. I thought it was a nice little miniseries of images. I should probably try to get more of these as I continue. I had taken a few shots of this location earlier in the morning and didn't think I did a good job with the focus. So when I went back out I changed some settings and tried again. This guy walked through my shot so I waited form him to get into a good spot and incorporated him in instead of trying to avoid people like I usually do. I really like these trees. New Orleans

When I first went down to New Orleans I thought it would be a good opportunity to practice Street Photography. While I was taking the photos I was thinking I would title this post "Street Photography: Art or Snapshots of Strangers?". Not that I don't think Street photography is art I am just not sure my street photography is art. I think you need to have the time to get the "Moment" in street photography and then the skills to have the correct settings and composition when said moment happens.
